Welcome...

Hello and welcome to all you lovely readers who are joining us, and the Gallery Garden, on our very exciting journey.

In September 2012 two mixed media artists met for the first time after realising the similarities between work which on the face of it, is very different.

You can find out more about Bethany Walker, mixed media textiles artist and Stevie Davies, contemporary fused glass artist by following the links to each artists personal websites.

The artists shared interest in the outdoor environment create the theme for the ‘Gallery Garden’ project and similarities in their techniques continue to generate transitional new work. Stevie’s love of the garden and Bethany’s of the urban environment produce installation based artworks which aims to bring the outside in. ‘Gallery Garden’ enables the artists to create an innovative showcase of sculptures based on flowers and foliage as well as the structures and objects within a garden environment. As well as their new body of work, both makers are open to producing new collaborative work resulting from the journey of their joint approach.

Bethany uses hand-crafted textiles with cement to create urban landscape journeys inspired by the contrasts in cities especially with the graphic and organic, whilst Stevie uses her fused glass and wire to construct components into forms that are inspired by natural life. Their collaborative pieces grow not only from the combination of their artworks but also through experimental combinations fusing materials.
